Information for Presenters / Authors
Thank you very much for your contribution to the symposium “Beyond the Score – Health & Well-being in Music and Performing Arts” (ÖGfMM Symposium 2026, April 10–12, 2026, University Mozarteum Salzburg).
Important Dates for Contributors
- January 15, 2026: deadline for materials for the conference volume (abstract, short bio, contribution text where applicable, portrait photo including photo credit)
- March 6, 2026: end of early-bird registration (see “Fees & Participation”)
- from March 6, 2026: participants register bindingly for workshop slots
Formats & Timing: Presentations, Posters, Workshops
Posters will be on display throughout the symposium and will be highlighted in the program.
- Format: maximum A0, portrait orientation
- Language, layout, and printing: your responsibility
- Bring along: please bring your poster with you at the beginning of the conference
Presentations should be planned in such a way that sufficient time remains for questions and discussion.
- Poster speed talk (90 sec.) prior to the poster session
- Short presentations: 10 minutes (8 minutes presentation + 2 minutes for questions)
- Longer talks: 15 minutes (12 minutes presentation + 3 minutes for questions)
- Keynotes: 30 minutes (25 minutes presentation + 5 minutes for questions)
Workshops should be planned in such a way that the technical setup and infrastructure can be prepared in advance. For this purpose, please use the organizational form available here.
- Duration: 45 minutes each
- Capacity: limited number of participants; registration by attendees from March 6, 2026
Technical Equipment
The lecture halls are equipped with a projector and an audio system. You will receive detailed information on their use (e.g., own laptop, HDMI/adapter) in good time before the symposium. If you have special technical requirements, please contact the conference office at an early stage.
Conference Volume: Abstract, Short Bio & Contribution Text
At the end of January 2026, the conference volume will be compiled. In order for your contribution to be included, we need the following materials by January 15, 2026:
- Abstract: approx. 250–350 words
- Short bio: approx. 90–140 words
- Portrait photo of the main presenter (including photo credit)
Please submit the final versions of your materials in a plain text format. The text will be printed in the conference volume as continuous running text with few line breaks and without bold or italic formatting, ensuring a uniform layout. When corresponding with oegfmm@gmx.at, please clearly identify your contribution with your name and contribution number.
Portrait Photo & Image Credit
For the conference volume and, where applicable, the website, we require a print-ready portrait photo of the main presenter.
- Format: JPG or PNG, sufficient resolution (minimum width of 1500 px recommended)
- File name: Lastname_Firstname_Portrait.jpg (or similar)
- Photo credit: please indicate where applicable (e.g., “Photo: Name of photographer”)
Language of Contributions
German or English are welcome as presentation languages and for texts in the conference materials. International guests particularly appreciate contributions in English.
For the conference volume, the following applies:
- Contributions may be submitted in German or English. Combinations are also possible, for example a German text in the conference volume and an English presentation.
Participation & Fees for Contributors
For presenters, workshop leaders, and students (up to and including the age of 26), a subsidized contribution towards expenses applies, supported by ÖGfMM. Details regarding the fee structure, services included in the registration fee, and the cancellation policy can be found on the page Fees & Participation.

As a contributor, you are also kindly asked to register via the regular online registration form, so that we can reliably plan your participation, catering, and organizational details. Information on the registration process and the link to the form can be found on the symposium homepage and on the page Fees & Participation.
Thematic Focus Areas of the Symposium
The content of the contributions is oriented toward the thematic focus areas outlined in the original Call for Papers:
- Educational approaches: innovative strategies for promoting health and well-being among musicians and performing artists.
- Prevention & load management: research and concepts for preventing overload in music-making and the performing arts.
- Physical and mental health: studies on physical and psychological conditions in artistic work.
- Effects of music and performance: how musical and performative elements influence health and well-being.
- Music- and performance-based therapies: potentials of therapeutic interventions in music and the performing arts.
- Technology & health: the impact of digital and technological developments on the health and well-being of musicians and performers.
