Beyond the Score – Health & Well-being in Music and Performing Arts

ÖGfMM Symposium 2026 · April 10–12, 2026 · University Mozarteum, Salzburg

Welcome to Salzburg

The symposium “Beyond the Score” is dedicated to health and well-being in music and the performing arts. It brings together experts from music physiology, music psychology, performing arts medicine, music education, and musicology.

The event places the physical, psychological, and social health of musicians and other artists at the center. The symposium links scientific research, clinical practice, and artistic perspectives and promotes exchange between medicine, psychology, pedagogy, and musicology.

The aim is to connect evidence-based findings on strain, prevention, and treatment with practical experience from teaching, performance, and rehearsal. “Beyond the Score” thus provides a platform for networking, professional development, and the joint development of future-oriented concepts for healthy work in music and the performing arts.

The event is designed as a peer symposium: contributors and participants can experience and discuss a wide range of scientific, practical, and artistic perspectives together.
